Frequently asked questions
Using the service
Who actually does the work?
An independent restoration company operating in your part of the county. Our role ends once the handoff happens: the crew you talk to owns the job from that point, including the estimate, the drying logs, and the invoice. Think of us as the switchboard, not the shop.
What is this going to cost me?
The referral itself is free. Billing happens between you (or your insurer) and the crew, and only after they've written a scope you sign off on. We never sit in the middle of that transfer, and nothing we do changes the number on your invoice.
When does the phone ring?
Target is one to two hours during business hours, often sooner because a lot of crews return calls from the truck between jobs. After-hours flood calls get matched with whichever crew runs round-the-clock dispatch; note that emergency call-outs carry premium rates, and crews quote those before touching anything.
Am I going to get five calls?
No. Multi-bidder lead selling is exactly the model we're set against. One request in, one crew out.
The crews
What licensing do they hold?
Registration with Washington State's Department of Labor & Industries as a general or specialty contractor, which by definition means a bond on file and liability coverage in force. That's the state's floor, and it's who we route to.
Who are the crews?
Small independent shops and local companies that already run jobs around King County, rather than household franchise names. Their crews live here, and their reputations do too.
Before and after
What should I have ready?
Your address, a phone number that works, and a plain description of what happened. For flood/burst pipe: where the water is, whether it's clean or dirty, if electricity is off. For mold: where you see it, any recent water event. For fire: what burned, whether the fire department cleared the structure. For sewage: where the backup is, whether it's contained. That detail helps the crew arrive with the right equipment.
What if I have an emergency?
Request a callback and mark it urgent, or call. If it's sewage backup, avoid contact and keep children/pets out of the area. If it's fire damage, don't enter until the fire department clears the structure. If you smell gas, leave first and call your utility's emergency line.
Do you guarantee the work?
The crew holding the job carries the warranty on their terms; that's standard, since a referral service has no means to honor workmanship promises it doesn't stand behind. Where a problem is with the referral itself (wrong area, unreachable crew), use the contact page and it gets handled on our side.
